Responsibilities
Represent Rotary to the national, regional, broadcast and digital media, encompassing both reactive and proactive functions
Create and develop print and online materials, email marketing, web site content and development; write press releases, byline articles, support creation of corporate videos and other collateral
Leverage regional knowledge and research insights to develop a regional marketing strategy and plan that aligns with Rotary’s overall strategic goals and plans
Manage crisis response initiatives, develop response strategy and execute accordingly, also responsible for maintaining crisis communications plans and protocols. This includes coordinating with Manager or Public Relations at Headquarters. Serve as the day to day proxy for escalating issues
Localize and implement regional marketing campaigns and other materials to support the priorities of the organization, lead in-country review of content as needed
Contribute to the design and implementation of tailored communications and branding strategies that increase the impact of Rotary’s events, publications, projects, and initiatives
Collect regional information and stories and present findings and suggestions as needed. Also monitor regional, national and international news to identify opportunities for Rotary coverage
Cultivate relationships with media to secure placement for Rotary in your region and internationally
Manage partnerships with content, marketing and public relations consultants (freelancers/agencies)
Provide consultation and training to local Rotary clubs, districts and zones for planning successful public facing events, i.e. webinars, PowerPoint presentations
Build a strong social media presence on the platforms that are most relevant in the region
Represent the Communications team in projects and initiatives as assigned
Assist TRF staff in creating Fund Solicitation proposals, both for High Net Worth Individuals (HNI) and Corporates (CSR Funding)
Respond to requests from news media in expedient and appropriate manner, especially with regard to setting up interviews with Rotary spokespersons. Also ensure that spokespersons are properly media trained and briefed prior to interviews
Produce media materials, including news releases, op-ed pieces, talking points, and other material promoting Rotary's programs and activities
Support Zonal and Regional Leaders and clubs with training, toolkits and other resources
Collaborate with Regional Rotary Magazine to elevate local projects and initiatives that mirror priority subjects recommended by Rotary International
Travel and other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
3-5 years of prior experience in marketing, advertising, communications, PR, Journalism or other related field, demonstrated leadership, planning, team building and communications experience
Strong knowledge of the political, cultural and media environment in the region.
Keen eye for social and cultural issues/trends
1 - 2 years of experience creating, localizing or editing timely content; this can include media messages, op-eds, talking points, or materials somehow designed to influence broad audiences
Professional proficiency in English
Spanish knowledge a plus

General Overview
The Communications Specialist- Brazil, creates, implements and oversees communications programs – internal and external – that effectively describe and promote Rotary and its membership value proposition to the Portuguese and Spanish speaking audiences. The specialist works with the rest of the communications team and other staff to leverage regional knowledge and research insights to develop marketing and public relations plans that aligns with Rotary’s overall strategic goals. They localize promotional tools and campaign guides, such as “People of Action”, and support the creation materials for clubs and districts that are culturally appropriate. They act as Rotary’s ambassador, and spokesperson by building and maintaining relationships with partners and members of the press, and provide support to Regional Leaders.
